Anyone have a ScreenShot of the HG55 with prices when they were put on Busse's site?

Love the satin g10 variants! I wish there were more of these floating around... good post OP, i always thought they were less expensive from the shop.

In case you feel like searching for pricing again and no one is around to help, I've used the Wayback Machine (google will bring it up) before and that works too :)

Does anyone have a pic of an original HG55 that is mentioned in the Busse add above? "The Old School One"

These look pretty close to whats on the screen shot.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

I'm refering to the early 1990's version Boss Man is mentioning in the add that the newer version is patterned after. I'm pretty sure your two beauties are the later release. I'm not positive but I am pretty sure. Does any one know? Sorry not trying to highjack you thread B.

I thought they couldnt polish the CBT bevels. They sure look polished to me:confused:

You can polish anything with enough effort lol. I think they just don't want to polish certain grinds (ie: CBT) because the effort it would take would make it difficult to keep the price down for the consumer. To my knowledge, these are the only CBTs that were sold as a satin/competition finish hybrid (though up close, the finish just looks satin IMO). I'd love the chance to buy another, but havn't seen ANY on the exchange since they were originally offered.

Anyone have an idea what they are doing differently with the competition finishes?. The first type still had the decarb on, but the newest competition finish has it pretty much all removed.

Also what type of tool are they using to do the comp finish?.

I love the Wayback Machine, it has been helpful many times!

Those HG55's with the smooth tips and CBT's behind them are really sweet!

Vertical CBT's like on the HG55 would be much easier to do than horizontal ones on the other blades that have them if you are trying to get all of the decarb out of the grooves as you don't have to worry about hitting the handles, but if the handles are removed or not yet installed, it shouldn't be much of an issue either direction.
The biggest difference in the CF of 2008 to newer versions is there is more sandblasting done now to remove the decarb layer in the low spots to prevent surface rust.
From stripping my own blades I will say that it is very easy to think you got it all removed when you still have a little ways to go, which is noticeable when you let rain hit the blade and it rusts within minutes to hours. Once you get the decarb all the way gone, that doesn't happen anymore, yet it will look almost identical, so I am pretty sure that slightly frustrating potential for warranty claims is why it is not a standard finish offering, but can be requested.
The competition finish can be applied to a CGFBM, or at least it could be a couple years back, maybe not now.
This CGFBM was done by the shop and came back with one of the best edges of any of my Bussekin to date, and it has had zero rust issues.
