I would like a handle THICKNESS shot if you could please. The 586 appears to be bigger, "fatter"?????

Just sent a 586 as a gift to a friend so no pic, but it definitely is as you say "fatter" in hand than the 707 and even slightly more so than the 556 and 525. BM's site has handle thickness of 586 as 0.57" and 707 as 0.42".

The specs say the 586 is 0.15" thicker. Since it's an assisted opener, that shouldn't be surprising.

I don't have a 586 but the 707 compared to the 525 and 556 feels quite a bit thinner.

I took a picture but its night out and phone sucks in low light.

gull wing,
If you still want a comparison shot I can post one in a few hours when I get home.

I have both, but will not be home from work until much later tonight. The 586 is considerably thicker. I can post a photo later tonight.

gull wing,

Here is your comparision photo. From viewers Left to Right: 556 Mini-Griptilian, 586 Mini-Barrage, 707 Sequel. Since "Redmasta" gave you a top view, I'll give you the bottom view.

Sorry about the poor lighting, shadows, and blade halos - at least the grip size difference is easy to see. ;)

NOTE: For some reason when I log in the picture becomes a link only, so if you don't see the picture just click on the link below. Somebody let me know if you can see the picture when logged in, maybe it's the way my user profile is set-up, thanks.

Bechmade's "Handle Thickness" specifications:
- 556 Mini-Griptilian: 0.510 inch
- 586 Mini-Barrage: 0.570 inch
- 707 Sequel: 0.420 inch

One of the reasons the 707 Sequel was my first Benchmade back in August 2005 was the thin handle at just 0.42". On the other hand, the 586 Mini-Barrage is 0.57" thick. I think 707 has the thinnest handle of any Benchmade with Axis lock. My 480-1 Shoki is thinner (0.37") but it has Nak-Lok and thin CF scales.

That's what drew me to the 707 as well... It is impressively thin, especially considering the way it is constructed (inner frame & handle scales) and the fact it has an Axis lock.

Harris2 your pictures were much better than mine lol. You really captured how thin the 707 is, it doesn't seem like much of a difference on paper but its very noticeable in person. It really disappears in the pocket.

Thanks.

Having a cell phone picture is always better than having no picture, and a lot less hassle than digging out the DSLR. :)
