Cylindrical and full of holes, you cut an additional window area out and it makes a dandy little Hobo Stove according to the pics and reports on a UK Bushcraft site.

Anyone know where to get them here besides me actually driving to Ikea? ;)

TF: good idea, except for the not available online part...

I already gotta send you over fitty bucks as it is! ;)

Ryan,

I appreciate the offer but if TF can snag one, I have to get a couple things from him and that would save some shipping. I would greatly appreciate it if you would check it out, though.

I really appreciate the help guys.

Jnanson,

When I was younger, much younger! I read in a outdoors/survival book about hobo stoves. The most basic thing I have used is a five gallon metal paint bucket. If it has anything inside of it, you have to do a hot burn and get away from it so you don't breathe in anything toxic.

You turn it upside down so the bottom is then a top and that acts as a stove top. You cut a door down on the part next to the ground - on a five gallon metal bucket - about 5 X 5 inches does nicely. That's where you feed the fire. All of the metal gets hot, obviously, and it acts as an awesome stove to warm up a small area. You can take a church key and punch holes along the bottom rim as well as the top rim, bottom feeds more air to the fire and the top holes act as an exhaust.

They get hotter than a two-dollar pistol, as you might imagine.

I visited a UK Bushcraft site and one dude had the Ikea utensil thingy and it has plenty of holes all through it, he cut a small door and this thing just looks like the perfect size for a easily-transportable hobo stove that once cooled, you can hang off of your pack, etc.

Don,

What do you owe me 50 for? Am I making you something?

e-mail me at jmoulenbelt (at) hotmail (dot) com.

No matter what I would love to make something for you.

Yes indeed! I'll shoot you an E-mail. Please check your spam filter because I mailed you about a month ago that I was going to be late on the order because of missed work due to back to back blizzards.

We have these utensil drainers in Finland too, but...they're made of plastic:eek: that would make a good stove alright:D:D

Strangely, I have something similar by the kitchen sink for draining cutlery :)
If you are interested, it is about 4 3/4" in diameter and about 5 1/4" tall.

this is it:

That one linked to above is a taller version of the same thing.
