Toothed,
Well, I have done some prying with the 747, and did not have any problems at all, or even a hint of a problem. However, the blade was not flexing or bending either.
I have not done any prying with the AR yet, but it's only a matter of time. Probably once the newness wears off a bit, I'll start testing some limits to see what happens.
Of course, because Strider has an unconditional warranty, I do not want to intentionally damage the AR, in the form of casting about looking for something to pry open.
I did take some measurements on the AR, 747, and Mission MPF, for comparison.
Strider AR
tip - .033
.5" back from the tip - .077
spine - .182
liner lock - .100
TOPS CQT 747
tip - .025
.5" back from the tip - .084
spine - .178
liner lock - .066
Mission MPF
tip - .032
.5" back from the tip - .089
spine - .158
framelock - .165
I have done some light pyring with my MPF, and while it did flex pretty easily, it also returned to true every time...how many degrees was I flexing it? I have no idea, but it was nothing excessive. It did flex pretty easily, and it's a bit freaky and takes some getting used to.
Out of those three, if I was going to do some prying, I would not hesitate to use whichever I had on hand. Understand though, I'm no metallurgist, and my opinion is based solely on looking at them and coming to a basically uninformed opinion.
In other words, take my opinion for what it's worth
The AR is a most impressive knife though, no doubt about it.
