Anyone have any beat up Mnandis to show off?

I've been thinking of a Mnandi for a while, but if I get one, I mean it to be a user for business dress. And I tend to abuse my users. It's because I abuse my user knives that I love CRK. As long as you get a micarta or plain jane titanium scale, you can send it in for a spa to make it look like new!

So if I get a Mnandi, I need to make peace with the fact that it's going to get a significant number of dings and bumps. I will likely put it in my pocket with keys and it will get banged up. Not interested in keeping it in a leather sheath in my pocket.

Anyone have any heavily beat up Mnandis you can post pics of? Would love to see what it would like if not babied.

After carrying a Mnandi with and without the pouch, I found that using the pouch was not nearly as aggravating as I imagined so mine have not been mangled.

I carry mine a lot to the office but my office uses are not extensive there. I have dropped one of in a few times on a hard floor but I am still not able to find any marks. The good thing about a mnandi is CRK uses hard or stabilized wood and the inlay covers almost all the titanium.

I'm not sure the mnandi is really a 'hard use' knife. Not that it isn't capable, but the size of the sebenza blade makes it more capable. Most here tend to have more than one CRK, and the sebenza fills the hard use role while the mnandi, if in the stable, will handle light duty - opening boxes, mail, packages, etc. It's often referred to as the gentleman's folder (no offense to the women carrying them, or the scrubs like blanco who are certainly not gentleman :) ) and fills that niche perfectly.

All that said, both of mine have been carried, but almost exclusively in a pouch. The mammoth was carried for years before finding its way to me, and the lignum has definitely not been babied. The extent of the hard use, though, would be battles with difficult to open christmas toys for the kids, or cutting open a bag of concrete.

Wow! You found a used/carried mammoth mnandi! I'd love to find a user (and priced accordingly). Almost all mnandis of any kind on the For Sale section are mint, unused, so I feel like I'm paying a premium price for something that I'm going to beat up. I love user knives on the secondary market because they are cheaper than mint, and if I'm going to use them anyway, it's a great deal!! But sadly few mnandis seem to get hard use.

I didn't find this one so much as I pried it from the previous owners hands :) I managed to snag a 2008 ivory large annual a few years ago. I grabbed it mostly as a bargaining chip, as those with the early 2000s mammoth/ivory mnandi don't typically want to let them go, but it worked. It took a three way trade to get the above to to me; the large annual, a bubblewrap mnandi, and some cash traded hands, but I think we were all pretty happy with the outcome.

Definitely a great trade! That mammoth served me well for quite some time. Glad to see you are still enjoying it.
