A lot bigger, a lot heavier, a lot more powerful. Will lose positioning when you raise or lower the head on the column, but how much will you do that making knives?
I was tempted by one of these but decided to get a mini-mill quick before I actually had to figure out how to get 700+ pounds of mill-drill into my shop down the hill in back of my house
I have the Grizzly 750 pound mill drill. I put a good chuck on it. I have a rotaty table on one end of the table and a machine vise on the other. The dial indicator readings are not very good but light shimming of the vise and table brings it fairly close. I live close enough to Bellingham that I could pick the stuff up that I bought from Grizzly. I think I got the most for the buck but that can depend on where you live and what is availible. I had to rebuild the switch twice, it finially became trash. The plastic gears in the downfeed are fairly poor but you can get parts from grizzly...Take Care...Ed
After Using with a Mill/Drill for years, I went with this one. OOp's i forgot that I'm on Blade Forums. I'm not allowed to post pic's sorry. I went with the Grizzly 3201 nee mill. Mike
