I picked one up in an auction for a good price, might be useful for eating cordstrap but I'd want to know if anyone could tell me about their real world use of it. It'll be my 7th spyderco....I'm in deep now

If you have 6 others use those instead. The matriarch is the one you hope to not have to use, its nasty. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416199781.123905.jpg

I recently picked up a lil Matriarch for a friend and got to play with it a few days before he picked it up. I would have no issue carrying it as an edc blade...in fact I think I would quite enjoy it for that role. The full sized matriarch on the other hand is a completely different animal. The tip is much more extreme than that of the lil matriarch and the idea of using it for normal tasks on a daily basis without damaging the tip might be a bit unrealistic. You can probably pull it off (for a while) but be careful...it won't take much at all to snap that tip off.

I was also thinking of trying the plain edge lil matriarch, appreciate the input. I may have to put some $ aside again

Yes, I am considering that one too. I Honestly think it would make for a great edc blade. I enjoy hawkbills but find them pretty limiting. I think a reverse s design like on the lil matriarch could be really functional as an edc.

Yup. :(

But don't despair, a little grinder time can turn it into this.

A handy little edc.
