Has anyone had any experience with Cold Steel's Escrima sticks?

Thanks

Chris

Thanks,

I searched for it but I think my search was too specific.

After reading that thread I am not sure I want to buy them.

hey bro how are yah

I asked the same question a while back.

I think these polycarbonate sticks are only for maybe cycle drills and things of that nature, and should be used with caution. People have stated that training with heavy sticks frequently over time can have a lot of ill effects to your joints. I'm a novice within Kali, but i advise caution.

The cold steel sticks are not bad for 20 bucks and im hoping to get some soon through NGK.

If you want another alternative there is another individual who fights within the Dog brother gathering who makes his own sticks with the same materials. A bit more expensive, but you can check his site out as well.

What ever you choose is ultimately up to you, but don't knock it till you have tried it right. Hey if your stick ever breaks you can always send it back or make them into palm sticks. take care

Do you think the CS escrima is a good fighting weapon or a training tool?

My teacher bought a pair and we decided that they were heavy, lifeless and totally unlike a true escrima stick. The polypropelene is slick and hard to hold on to and they bounce funny when they bang against each other. The only good thing I can say about them is that they would be nearly indestructible and so you would have them for years.

I would not spend one dime on them for a home defense weapon. I'd rather go to Goodwill and spend $2.95 on one of those mini sized childrens aluminum bats.

The aluminum bat idea is right on. I have a son who is the right age to make me carrying that legal. He loves baseball too! I love those bats.

I am sending my broken stick to CS, hope they will replace it with a more durable piece.
I like that the stick is heavier than rattan, thus more like actual useable things, like an ASP. It also carries shocks even less than a rattan.
Be advised, you can break it. Easily. Few whacks against something unyielding and the stick is history. May be good for beating tire dummies, though.
