I think this is the same locking belt loop that comes with the Spyderco Moran. Does anyone have one? If so, do you like it? How would you rate it compared to other belt loops on kydex sheath?

Thanks,

I really like it. It makes for a very versatile sheath. I think it is a step in the right direction.

The clip on the moran is the Tek-Lok. Tim Wenger and Bob Trazoula designed and manufactured this clip. The sheath on the moran is a blade-tech.
The clip is functional and a good design. I personally feel it fits best on sheaths larger than the moran, and will be great on synthetic holsters.
Call blade-tech and buy a few as your line of knives are suited to the tek-lok.

Radarman,
I have a couple that Bladetech sent me. I like them very much. I am considering selling the Tek-Lock for use with my sheaths, instead of the current loops that I make. They would of course then be included for free with my belt size knives. Wanted to get input though from the knife gurus on the forum. So what do you all think of me giving (or selling) a factory made loop with my custom made knives and sheaths?

As long as your customers know where the loop came from and it improves the overall package then I think it is a great idea. Since you posted here, it is obvious you are not trying to rip anyone off, just looking to make a better carry system. I say go for it.

The intent of the Tek-Lok is not to be a proprietary device. As such, you would not be ripping Blade-Tech off by selling it on your sheath. At the Blade Show Tim gave away many Tek-Loks as "samples" and carried sheaths to show what could be done with them. The intent of the Tek-Lok, I gathered, is to sell them as much as possible and cause the knife and shooting industry to wonder how they got along with out it. To make them common-place so to speak.
The Tek-Lok is an accessory, as the Edge Works mini-paddle that is found on the HaloIII's. The reward for the manufacturing company is not, necassarily, for everyone using it to tout where it came from but in the sale of the product. As simple product like the Tek-Lok, if successful, can provide side capital for a company to fund other R&D products.
Lynn, if you buy an accessory you bought it. You can use it as you please, it just helps when it is from a well known and respected company

I like the Bianchi clip as well, but I read it posted somewhere that it's hard to come by.

Maybe someone can clarify.

I just ordered a large quanity of the Tek-loks. I will be offering them for use with my knivs. I will also be offering them to anyone that would like just the Tek-lok. Thank you all for helping me to make the decision to carry them.

2Sharp,
The premise behind the Tek-Lok is that it provides a multiple care "platform" that allows the maker to incoporate in his/her own sheath/holster design. Also, the Tek-Lok has a quick release on/off the belt. This is not a new idea and only one of others.
The only major draw back to some of these devices is that they can, sometimes, dictate the sheath/holster design. I beleive the Tek-Lok had an obvious influence on the design of the Moran sheath, more so than the knife itself, resulting in more sheathing than was necassary. Of course that is personal opinion. On the other hand the Tek-Lok is really great for larger knives where it will not have such an influence on design. IMO

RadarGuy...

Thanks Much!!!

BTW Is that thing qick release?
In otherwords can I take it off the belt without removing the belt?

This thing would be kickass for my EMS holsters if it were!!

I believe that holster is made by Blade-Tech if I'm not misteken!
