Anyone have any problems with pocket rivets wearing on their knife?

Hey guys. Anyone else here have a problem with rivets on their jeans pocket wearing or marking up the scales of your knife? I wear a few pair of Carhartt's for work and there is a metal rivet on the seam where the pocket meets the pant leg/main material. After EDCing for a while the material inside the pocket has worn away exposing the inside of this rivet. When the knife is inside the pocket clipped to it, the scale rubs on the exposed part of the rivet causing some wear marks. On my BM 943 it shows as silver scratches and on my new Ritter Grip with orange Wilkins scales it shows as black or silver residue from the metal rubbing the G10.

Does anyone else run into this problem? I'm not real sure what to do about it. The coin pocket is too shallow to carry either knife in there. I don't really care to carry it in the back pocket as that's where my wallet resides, etc.

I just thought I'd throw this out there to see if anyone else comes across this and what your solution is, if any.

You can carry inside waste band (IWB). I carry a knife about 1 o'clock on my waist. I usually have the bottom of the knife angled to the left some. I don't even notice it. However, I have tried carrying the mirror image (at 11 o'clock) and it is uncomfortable to me which I don't understand.

Not sure how to fix the actual problem though.

This is how I have carried a folder for years. Also, the clip slides underneath the belt and this allows for a little more discreet carry.

I have run into the problem with marks from the pocket rivet with IWB carry as well. I corrected this by putting a small piece of iron-on-patch over the rivet head.

I've had that problem too. I make sure now when I buy jeans they don't have the rivet, or inwill carry them differently as to not scratch up the anodizing of my more "coveted" knives that I like to keep in good condition. My Blur has a nice silver streak on the handle from the rivet, good think it only got one of my knives before I caught on.

All my super old Levi's haven't worn through on that rivet, somehow, so I don't have that problem. I'd suggest putting some sort of patch over it though, carrying IWB doesn't sound comfortable at all to me.

I too have experienced this problem. I used to wear carhartts for work but now I have some heavier duty dickies. They have the reinforced knees so they hold up to some abuse and they dont have pocket rivets like the carhartts.

It can't hurt to try, you might be able to carry that extra knife! :D

I have one there right now and can't feel it at all and I'm sitting down leaning forward in a computer chair. Lots of people wear IWB so you might be surprised.
