Looking for some info on this company. The knife looks hefty and fit/finish looks tight. Any help would be appreciated.

I own their amazon folder. It is very well made. It has the IKOMA bearing system which is (i think) is similar to RJ Martin's system - the effect is that the knife feels like an assisted opener while it really isnt.

Not sure what information that you are looking for, but Forumite Jeff Velasco from Brazilian Blades, http://www.brazilianbladesmiths.com.br has this to say:

"Ricardo and Roberto Lala are some of the original makers in the business around here. They started back in 1990 using stock removal techniques and 440C. Their focus was at the time camp knives, hunters and bowies as that was what the local market was demanding.

Slowly they developed very specific know-how on stock removal and stainless steel blades that naturaly led them to folders, tacticals and balisongs. They favor high tech materials and techniques and are constantly researching in order to offer better products. Their latest advance is the IKBS bearing system that was invented in cooperation with Brazilian blademaker Flávio Ikoma.

The IKBS, or Ikoma Korth Bearing System, which is patent pending, is a new mechanism to hold a folder´s blade in the handle minimizing the wobble and friction of the parts to almost none, resulting in a durable and smooth action."

I own one of the Amazonas folders that was an exclusive with AZCK, which I purchased after seeing pictures. The knife is as well made as any frame lock that I have ever owned(about 15, give or take, from the biggies), and has an otherworldly smoothness. VERY reasonably priced as well.

Hope this helps.

It sure does. The one I purchased is from Nordic Knives and looks of top notch quality. For the price paid, I hope it will compair to my XM-18 and my Obenauf #2 Medium Framelock. Thanks guys, your help is greatly appreciated.

I don't own any, but have only heard good things about Korth.

And as far as guns go, I need a Kimber Desert Warrior 1911. Oh to dream...

I'm ordering a kimber ultra carry, black with crimson trace laser grips...I can't wait until it's finally here!

Let me pause while I get the drool buckett!................Yeah, Kimberrrrr.

Anyway, I'm glad I made a good buy. Thanks for the input.

Korth make great knives. Trust me, i know ;)

As for the bearing system, there is a series of 1/16 inch bearings circling the pivot on each side of the blade.

Sealed bearings?

no, ball bearings.

Just like bicycles, before sealed bearings were used. Tiny little 1/16' ball bearings-not sure what they are using for a race.

The Korth knives are top quality. If you like the design, go for it. You will not be disapointed. If the model has IKBS, even better. It makes for butter smooth opening without blade play.

There are a few other custom makers using the IKBS pivot.Les Voorhies is one,Daryll Ralph and his son were using it but I think they switched to their own system now. Can't think of any others now but I'm sure there are more.

I did pick it up. I did a search and it is a IKBS Model. Has a interesting looking groove that runs the length of the blade. I think it is still pictured at Nordic Knives. I should be getting it in the snail mail any time know and will post pics.

I handled one of their larger IKBS flippers and it was the smoothest knife I've ever opened. Sharp as any other knife also. I would highly reccomend them. Unfortunately, I didn't buy it that day and it disappeared :( Not easy knives to find.

I recieved the Korth Folder on Monday. Man is this a GREAT folder! Super smooth, one of the sharpest knives I have EVER handled, period. And that was out of the box! Fit and finish is top shelf and the lock up is bank vault tight.

I have already inquired about a different model with the maker and can't wait to buy it. I would strongly recommend buying one of these folders and do not wait another minute. Buy it know!
