Anyone have both a Silky pocketboy 170 AND a gomboy 240?

I'm hemming and hawing between the two.

One is more compact, lighter and can be belt-worn, the other has a thicker blade thus a bit more robust.

Anyone purchase one, regretted it, and then got the other?

I have both and use them for different purposes. The little pocketboy is perfect for carrying. I didn't like the belt case though. I put it in my pack. Around the yard, the larger saw cuts so fast its addictive. They both do that though. They're good tools. You'll want both.

Thanks for the response Fiddleback.

The pocketboy170's blade is listed at 1.2mm thick at the kerf, and the gomboy240's is listed at a bit thicker 1.4mm.

Can you personally see and feel the difference between the two?

Some say the pocketboy's blade feels a little bit flimsier than the gomboy's.

I have broken and replaced blades on both, but I cut a lot of wood with each before they broke and when it happened it was my fault. I was hurrying. I carry either based on wieght.

Thanks for the replies Fiddleback.

I think I'll go for the Gomboy first and see how it goes.

I have both and both work well. I prefer the longer blade of the Gomboy. That said I tend to carry the Gerber sliding saw at 1/3 the weight and 1/3 the price (I have the earlier model). The Gerber is more delicate so I don't get too aggressive in cutting limbs. Remember they all cut on the pull stroke and all will break the blade on the push stroke if you are not careful.

I have a Pocketboy and a Gomboy, but I'm not sure of the numbers. I love them both and think they serve a purpose. The Pocketboy is easier to carry and therefor with me more, but I love the Gomboy for serious work.
