Three out of my four children collect knives.
My two boys, ages 15 and 11 each have about forty knives. My 9 year old daughter has about 7 Mother of Pearl Buck knives. She loves Mother of Pearl. All three have displayed at several knife shows. This year, they will be displaying at the Blade Show for the first time. Needless to say, they are very excited. I am grateful that they share my love of knives. It gives us something in common to share. They are almost as excited as I am when I get a new knife in the mail. They can't wait to see it.
I hope a lot of forumites have children who have a love of knives as well.

My 12 year old son has a small collection going. His dream is to save up for a Carson Model 4. Good luck.

My 13 year old son has a collection of 10 knives. His favorites are the Outdoor Edge Impulse, the Spyderco Moran, and the Bear Balisong.

My seven year old boy asked if he could have a job helping me make knives. And my 2.5 yr old daughter comes in the shop, demands to see what I am working on, looks it over like a pro, and wants to help also.

From the moment my oldest daughter (Melanie,7) held the Simonich Cetan, I could tell by the gleam in her eye that I would have to give it to her someday. I have.

Michelle, 5 was sitting next to me one day and saw a pink Delica on-line. She exclaimed, "Oooh, dad! We need to get one of those!" I asked her why and she said, "Because it's pink!" I asked, "Is pink your favorite color?" "No," she said "blue is. Do they make that knife in blue?" "Not anymore." I told her. "Well, I want a blue knife." She said. So I ordered her a blue Benchmade Leopard Cub. She likes it since blue is her favorite and it "matches" mom's purple Leopard.

My son, Quint (Joel V), 4, was sitting in my lap the day that I first found Running Dog Knives. He saw the L'il Pup on the website and said, "Look, Dad! A Blue's Clues Knife!" I knew he had to have one. I orded one of the first 5 BG42 models just for him.

My newest girl, Melissa, 5 months, doesn't have a "real knife" yet.

Each kid has a John Yeakley wooden knife to play with. (And they DO play with them!)

My two little guys - ages 10 & 11 are also budding collectors. It's gotten to where when one of them drops a milk tooth, they expect to find a knife under the pillow in the morning.

My boys absolutely love knives like their old man. See this thread about one of my kids if you want

My daughter Dianne (5 yrs of age this May) has her own Pink Cricket, and I plan to add more to her collection soon. She gets all excited whenever I receive a knife in the mail.

I also created a rack that specially houses knives given to me by fellow forumites, either as a gift, or from contests won.

Those won't be used, but will be kept as priceless treasures. And guess who's standing guard over them?

Heck I can't even touch them without asking permission from my kid first! even if it's just to brush off the dust! heheheh... She's going to be one fine knife-lovin' lady someday.

My 2 sons (18 and 20) both collect knives. They also have it already figured out which one gets which knives when I go to the big BF in the sky. They try to guide me as to which knives to buy as they figure they'll be theirs someday.

oh well, i'll have my perfect collection some day (yeah, right). Still, it'd be nice to have a knife worth more than $20.

My kids are 3 & 1, and they each have a wooden John Yeackley knife. They use them to cut up their playdough. But it won't be long.

Just like I get to use them as an excuse when I go to Toys R Us and buy fun toys, soon we will knife shop together. Bwahahahahaha my wife will be outnumbered.

YES!!
My daughter, almost 9, is a knife nut. She attends most of the shows here in FL with me. She has a Synergy that was earned for excellent grades in school along with several Case multiblades. Her next knife will be a custom from Bill Simons when he finishes MY little lockback.
My son, 6 collects and USES my aluminum blade templates!! Any paterns that don't "pan out" get the points dulled off and he uses them to fight all kinds of imaginary creatures and foes

They are no more dangerous than a stick but have drawn some odd looks from the neibors!!!!! He has 2 Case folders but at this time would much rather carry several of the aluminum ones in his belt!! I will not push the knife hobby on him but around here, I'm sure it will eventually catch on.

I have a four year old and she loves to go to knife shows with me.I nicknamed her "peanut" because she is so small.Naturally I had to start her a collection of Case Peanut patterns. She is also into autos and loves her dad to hold them so she can push the"button"
Just bought her a Pro Tech CA legal OTF.She has to wait awhile to carry that one.

Just like Dave's sons, my kids always lay claim to a new knife for when I pass away. Fortunalely for me, they always say, that they hope that won't be for a while. I am actually building my collection with my kids in mind. I hope when I am gone, they will continue to build it and pass it down through the generations.
