Anyone have comments about BM 921?

I just bought a 921 strictly because of the attractiveness of the knife. I was just wondering if anyone might have an opinion about this knife?

Very attractive blade IMO

I consider it a perfect gentleman's knife. Smooth action on the Axis lock, the S30V takes a great edge. The initial factory edge isn't the best, I thinned mine out to my satisfaction. The second blade I use as an evelope slicer mostly.

I purposefully carry my car keys in pockets in other pockets than the pocket I clip my knives in - with the intention of protecting my handles from getting scratched. That being said, I could see the 921 frame getting scratched fairly easily.

I have other knives I'd use for heavier use. But for dress and "gentleman" carry, my 921 gets picked most of all!

You must a HUGE Benchmade fan, or should I say: edamhcneb? Very creative!! I LOVE your screen name!!

The 921 was my first Benchmade knife and the first knife that I actually EDC'd. After doing research, it seemed like the best bet since it had an Axis lock and a small utility blade for all the dirty work like opening up boxes (packing tape glue is just plain nasty).

Kind of sad right now since it's MIA. I'm sure it's somewhere in my apartment but I'm not sure where. Might have to spend a day this weekend looking for it.

Great pics! I bought a 921 BLK which turned out to be a "first production run" and came in a more slender benchmade box than my others with no satchel. :(

Did I get Scr**ed?

Good eye collector. I did think it would take longer for someone to catch that.

My 921 is a California Grapevine Purple color with a black blade, very cool. The little blade is great for slicing up limes to jam into Corona bottles. I have some of those black nylon velcro sheaths that I keep mine in just to keep the crud out and to prevent fights between it and my car keys.

I love mine. It's a Pre-Production (229/1000) Blue and I love it. It gets more EDC time in the pocket than just about anything else. 'Course, five days a week are office-environment for me.

It's light, smooth, non-threatening, and a breeze to get sharp.

My love for the 921 has really made me consider buying a 960. Any 960 opinions? Especially from those that own both the 921 & 960?

Thanks!

I hear ya, Paddling_Man! It was a tough decision to choose between the 921 and 960. Both are classy folders , D2 for the 960 and S30V for the 921, both are Axis. You couldn't go wrong with either.

Since the 921 was discontinued it motivated me to buy one before they were gone. The 960 is still around for this year (at least), so I decided to hold off for now. Also, for me there is something so alluring about the wharncliffe 921...

The blade on the 921 is also a little bigger, and the secondary blade is a unique flavor! Anyone who has considered one should definitely snag it before it's gone!

I admit. I have a fetish, I bought the 960S Red (since discontinued) as my 1st knife! Then the 960 SLV. I can't stop. I love the axis lock and the overall "feel" of the knives.

Does the smaller blade lock?

The smaller blade is a non-locking slip joint.

I just picked up a 921BLK and I love it. The 921 was one of the knives that I used to own and then foolishly sold. After being DC'd I searched for a black handled model and snatched it up quick.:)

From some of the previous threads I've read here on the 921, it's recommended that you close the slip-joint blade very slowly as otherwise you can blunt the blade (it wants to snap shut).

Since the secondary edge is a light-use edge, the fact that it doesn't lock is a non-issue for me. It's almost a "snag" edge IMO. Perfect for envelopes, tape on boxes, etc. It's 440C, but sharpens easily.

I like the look of the Blue 921, but also dig the Purple 921 w/black blade. I went with the Blue 921 because the rest of my BMs have Benchkoted blades (Cabela's D2 Grip, 910 and 710 in M2, and a 425 that is coated), I wanted a "non-tactical" look for at least 1 of my BMs. I also wanted it to be a gentleman-specific knife. There are still a few Purples left out there though...

??Huh?? More details please...
There was a SFO version for Taurus Firearms with a blade profile much like the BM 940, which Benchmade calls a "reverse tanto". It's basically just a very steep clip point, which makes for a strong tip.

Unfortunately, they are were all serrated, with black BC-coated blades.
