Man, he made nice stuff! The story that I heard is that he went full time and that his meticulous nature did not permit him to make enough blades to make a real living at it.
Terry was an incredibly important part of my early knifemaking. He was exiting just as I was entering, basically, but his forum posts were tremendously enlightening to a new guy like me.
I think he chose to walk away from making for a variety of reasons, but the one outlined above was a big part of it. I also think it pained him that he had to, and his chosen exile from this arena was for strong personal reasons. It might be wise to let sleeping dogs lie, as the saying goes.
