Considering doing this depending on how it turns out.

Do they leave the ramp and jimping or level it with the spine?

Pics?

Th .

I did a wave removal on a cqc10. Mainly because it will go into my pocket easier. It came out looking just like my cqc7a
Blade profile. And I carry the 7a all the time now.

Not hard to do with a small grinder and file. Just go slow and carefully to keep it from getting hot.

Thx but I asked about how the factory does it. I'd like to keep the warranty .

I want another 7, but with a flat spine all the way back like an A-100. No ramp.

I'd just buy another one if I wanted a warranty. What could go wrong with a knife to need a warranty?

Emerson charges 35 to do it. Unfortunately they do not show a sample of the result..

I want a flat spine because having a ramp force my thumb backwards on the handle into Saber grip keeps it off the actual blade, losing leverage, and opens a gap between the handle and hand, losing grip.

Warranty is a big selling point with Emerson, since knives not made of Adamantium risk destruction in hard use.

Assuming that the reason for wave removal is avoidance of pocket openings (it isnt), moving it forward is about the least effective and most dangerous option there possibly is.

Hope I adressed everything.

Thx.

I have see photos of a couple on another forum. They only cut the actual hook portion leaving a thumbramp similar to a waveless CQC-7. It's rumored that the process is done by Mr. E himself but that is unconfirmed. f you want it flush, it'll have to be from a service provider voiding the warranty.

I was thinking about stopping by the shop next week and asking if they can de-wave my CQC13. Interested in more information here as well.

If you do, would you mind checking on my possibility as well?

I would be in your debt.

Show us what happens!

Thx.

Sure thing. I'll go either early this next week or the beginning of the following. Will post up results

My moving the knife forward was what I do at end of dey to take the knife out of pocket without it opening via the blade, as wave don't catch pocket edge.

I just called the shop and was told the turnaround time for de-waving is at least a month, as Earnest himself is the only person who performs this mod and he is busy hand building knives for a show at the moment. I'll drive over today or tomorrow and drop off the CQC-13 and as soon as I get it back will post up pics. Should be cool.

Jamesh, I'll see if I can get an answer for you.

Hey jazub.

I did the logical thing and called a rep. Was informed that they just take off the hook.

Thx alot for the thought.
