After two uses of my Leatherman steen, the button that you use to switch from the regular blade to the gut hook popped off (spring loaded) while gutting a deer. I'm guessing the screw that kept it pinned down somehow loosened or broke, which doesnt make sense because I only used it twice. I couldn't find the small parts because it was winter time and quite dark. Anyways, after a year or two i'm finally getting around to having it taken care of.

Because the knife is retired, what will they do? Also, they don't really make a similar knife, and definitely not one that was that expensive. If they decide not to repair it I don't know what they would offer.

I dont know about your item but multi tools have a 25 year warranty,,i sent them a older PSTII years back to replace the knife blade and they sent me a new tool....Another time i sent in a supertool that had 3/4 of one side of the needle nose pliers broken off,,they sent in a new one,,,as i typed this i searched,,the warranty is 25 years for tools. and 10 years for lights,,,fill out this form

I had to send mine back. There was an incredible amount of wobble in the main blade when locked. It was no hassle except that it took about 6 weeks to get back to me.

Really? Well I'm not in too much of a hurry. I'm missing components..hopefully that doesn't effect anything. Overall do you like the knife? I'm marking it down as a waste of money

I had to send my ST300 in recently, because it was so hard to open and close that it was actually a safety hazard, and it was making a grinding noise when I did open and close it. I sent it in on a Tuesday, and got it back on Thursday of the following week, so a nine day turnaround. And, it opens and closes much easier (though it's still stiff by MT standards).

I had to send in my first gen Wave, because the blades had developed some play from constant use.
Whatdoyaknow, they replaced it with a brand new gen4...

And thats service here in Germany...

Outstanding in my book!

I must say that is indeed outstanding. I know they don't make my model anymore, and I don't know how long they've had it out (it couldnt be longer than a year or two). In addition, they don't have a similar model out now to replace i with. Oh well from what it seems they will make things right.

Since my first Leatherman PST in 1996, I have purchased @ 50 assorted models. Most eventually went for gifts or resale, and at present I own 8 for personal use. Of them all, 3 went out for warranty service, two of them through my own abuse, for which I expected to be billed. All were returned repaired within 10 days, no charge. I was impressed.

What, please, is a generation 4 Wave? AFAIK, there were only two models, an earlier one that had fixed implements and the newer version with the bit exchangers.

I meant a 2004 Wave, the one with the tiny screwdriver-bit and the smaller scissors, adding the pliers-out blade-stay closed pins.

The original Wave didnt have that. What impressed me the most was the upgraded rigitity, the "old" had quite some flex in th ehandles, the new one is stout as rebar...like a fullsize SwissTool. Both build like tanks.

excellent customer service, i had sent in my old wave cause the wire cutters failed. i received a replacement new wave in 1.5weeks! amazing

Well, I read in a germanspoken knifeforum that some guys broke a blade or the pliers or the scissors at their LM. They send it to Leatherman-Germany. After about two weeks that tool arrived - repaired - cleaned - sharpened and so on.

Great service, as long as I heard about that.

Kind regards

Well guys...just an update (and new problem). Leatherman did a very fast job getting the knife back out...like less than a week I got an email saying that it left their facility. From there though, I have no idea what's going on. DHL dropped it off to USPS 13 days ago and I haven't seen an update yet. I tried calling but can't seem to find a way to actually talk to someone. When I enter my receipt/label number all they do is tell me there is no information on it. I'm starting to get worried. I've never waited anywhere remotely close to this long for something shipped USPS.

Here is what DHL has listed:

Well, allI have to say is that I got great service, I sent in an idea for a sheath addition (if you guys see a sheath with 2 snaps, that was me) and they sent me a nice letter, a sticker, a new universal sheath, and a mousepad, all for free, and total turnaround time was 4 days.

That's impressive. I can't complain at all about Leatherman..I know it's not their fault. Now USPS...that's a different story.

Yeah USPS is kinda hit or miss... especially in my immediate area, our carrier was killed in a wreck involving a drunk cokehead with access to a car.(RIP) Leatherman on the other hand, is 100% every time.
