I was looking to order one on their website because of the good reviews from all. I noticed when you click order knives only about half the knives appear for order. Does this mean they only offer some knives at a time. example I clicked order the camp tramp and it did not offer it for order. also how long does it usually take to receive them. it says 8-12 weeks but can be less or more time, which is reasonable for the quality of the product. I have my eye on the howling rat and the bog dog. the howling rat appears to be available but no listing to order the bog dog. hope i haven't offended anyone if my info is inncorrect that is why i am asking. thanks J

well you should probably have asked on their forum, but, some of their models may be discontinued an so only some are available. Anyway the wait can be significant. I have gotten some in 3 weeks and I am still waiting for one and that was ordered 4-5 months ago, so it all depends on demand. Good things come to those who wait usually.

I think the Bog dog is discontinued. So is the safari skinner. They are planning on updating some of their product but I am not sure about the Howling Rat.

Hi manix J,

Now you're in the right place. :D

Obviously the main website is in need of some major updating...

As far as the knives are concerned, there has been an announcement that the entire Swamp Rat line will be seeing some major changes at the end of the year. The Battle Rat and Camp Tramp were discontinued at the time of that announcement. If you are interested in any of the other blades in their current configuration, now would be the best time to order them.

Wait times are often shorter than the projected 6-8 week time frame, but other times the wait may be longer. The knives are made in batches which sell out almost as quickly as they are made. The length of your wait depends on when your order is placed during this production cycle.

The Howling Rat is an excellent blade and you will not be disappointed with it. Of course, who knows what the Swamp will be releasing at the end of the year. :D

Welcome to the Swamp Rat forum. I hope you stick around.

The howling rat sounds like it is worth the wait and with the added info from 360 that the knives available may change soon. I think It's worth ordering. like i said before i haven't handled one. would you guys put the dimensions and feel close to the cold steel master hunter? Because the two other knives I am comparing is the CS master hunter and the SOG field pup (Field pup is a little small and when I put it next to my edc manix it seemed similar in size). what do you guys think on the other two. But I am thinking the howling rat would look mighty nice next to my becker CU7 in my Bug outbag. PLMN J

There is no comparison, especially after you use the Howling Rat. I sold my CS Master Hunter and Outdoorsman after I started using the Howler.
