Anyone have Max Payne on PC?

I just finished this game, which came out about a year ago. This game is just top notch. I would love to find other games very similar to it.

I was also just given Hit Man II and am very disappointed. I keep comparing it to Payne, and this game is just boring and very awkward compared to it.

Are there any other third person action games which have the feel and gameplay of Max Payne?

Max Payne was great. No One Lives Forever 2 looks like it has Game of The Year possibilities.

I just got 007 Nightfire, but haven't installed it yet.

Dead to Rights has a similar feel (and slo-mo feature), but I believe it's only available for Xbox and GameCube. If you don't own an Xbox, you will be pleased to hear that Max Payne 2 is expected to ship near the end of 2003. In the meantime, check out the downloads section at http://www.maxpayneheadquarters.com/ and try the Kung Fu mod, among others. I spent more time playing mods than the original version, I think.

Yeah, the dual desert eagles are fun:D
And there is some mod that makes the shotgun more powerful (booyah)
:D

They're aren't many good third-person games for PC out there, but if you haven't tried Grand Theft Auto 3 or Mafia, give them a shot. The combat systems aren't as fancy as Max Payne, but they're both gritty as hell, have good stories, and lots of fun driving in cool cars.
Blood Rayne is supposed to come out for PC in March, and that has a slo-mo feature similar to Max Payne, and a cool mixture of hand to hand and fire-arms combat. My only issue with the PS2 version was the graphics, they could have used some more polish, but that should hopefully be remedied by the time it's released.
If you like first-person shooters too, check out Soldier of Fortune 2, and Medal of Honour: Allied Assault. Both have solid single-player modes, and the multi-player is a blast.
Your best bet is to visit your local Electronics Boutique (if there's one in your area), tell them what games you like, and ask them to recommend something. The EBs in my area are all staffed by hardcore gamers, and they're always more than willing to shoot the ****.

If you have a broadband connection, spend the $59.00 for a one year membership to www.fileplanet.com and download a whole bunch of demos and try them out. For a little more than the cost of one game, you can save yourself from buying games that suck. You can download demos for free from many places on the net, but the downloads are often slow, especially when a new demo or large patch for a popular game has just been released. With the fileplanet membership, you get priority when downloading. When I grab something from them now, I get an instant connection (no being bumped or dropped) and the download comes down as fast as my 66k/sec DSL connection will handle.

If you don't already have it, Return to Castle Wolfenstein is also a great game, especially if you have the hardware to really crank up the eye candy.

I hear Deus Ex 2 should be coming soon. That ought to be cool. If you haven't played the original, that's probably the bargain bin deal of the week at this point. Deus Ex is possibly one of the best games ever. I think it's gameplay and plot were a step above MAx Payne.

The main reason I originally got a computer (then learned how to build and network them) is because I've been a game geek since the Atari 2600 was state of the art.

While we're on gaming, what hardware to you guys run?

Athlon 1.4 ghz processor, with 20 gig harddrive, 2.2 gigs of RAM, and a GeForce4 ti 4400 video card. I've got some nice Cambridge speakers (with a subwoofer under the desk) and a 19" monitor.
When I started up my first game of Medal of Honour:AA on this thing, I loudly proclaimed, "THE FUTURE IS NOW!" and didn't leave the apartment for two weeks.:D :D
