I've been collecting rigging knives (my definition is anything that incorporates a marlin spike in some manner) for a while now. Embarrassed to say that I have not paid much attention to Schrade. I have several of the jigged plastic handled 735's with the locking spike and "PRESS DOWN" bail release. Schrade started making them in 1957 and the new Schrade is still making them now with a fancy ship's wheel escutcheon.
It's only been in the last couple of weeks that I've learned (noticed? realized!?) that Schrade was making a folding rigger as far back as 1938 -- an ALL METAL one!
I was just wondering if any of the BF Schrade devotees might have photos and /or info to share about any of these early knives.
The 736 (below) -- having been manufactured in the early 1950's -- really isn't that old. But, judging by how often they come up for sale online I'm guessing they're few and far between. I managed to snag one a while back but it's in pretty rough shape.
Note: these catalog images are available through the hard word of BF member lrv -- Larry Vickery -- please share any Schrade knowledge with Larry for inclusion on http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/
