I want to make my son a new knife for hunting season. I have some special damascus that means a lot to me. I want a a special knife. All right, before anyone says it, I do have empty nest syndrome, damnit.

Anyway, pictures would be appriciated. I haven't got a clue what to build now.
Thanks

Peter, I'm glad you asked that question. I just got this knife a few weeks ago. It was made by the world reknown Jones Brothers after some mutual discussion. Tapered tang,440V(CPM560V),flat grind, stag, red liners,s/s guard, thumb grooves, leather sheath. It doesn't get any better than this for drop point hunters.

Knowing them, I don't think they'd mind if you emailed them any questions at jknives@gamewood.net
(boy, you 2 guys owe me now :) )

Here's another one. Classic Loveless style with 440V blade, handrubbed to about 1000 grit. Bad shiny scan doesnt do the blade justice. Gorgeous ironwood handle slabs with brick colored liners. Heat treated stainless guard. Maker is Russ Andrews, a maker from the Kansas City,MO area. He has been making knives for about 30 years, but not too many people know him. Damned the luck; that means more for me!

Of course I love a Classic Loveless style "dropped point" heck who doesn't? I don't own a Loveless, but I do have a really nice GenO Denning #6.

Like a Loveless the Denning is hollow grind. The best hunter I have (actually the best knife I own) is a convex grind with a beautiful drop point and a lot of belly. IMO as good as it gets.

(PS, that's not the knife I own)

Mr. Mayo, I have seen your version of the Loveless up close at the Blade show. Fit and finish are better than any Loveless I have ever seen. That, and there's no extra holes drilled in the handle! :)
