Anyone have the new SRK in San mai 111 ?

I am curious to see if this knife is gonna turn out to be a good one , as I've heard a lot of negative about the old Aus-8 unit. My Pendleton in VG-1 is an awesome knife. Way better than I expected , and the new SRK has a VG-1 core ( with 420 outer layers I think .) Never had a prob. with the Kraton handles either. Thoughts? ( I already have an old carbon 5 one , but need a stainless one for the boat.)

I was about to post the same question. Apparently they are in stock and shipping. Anyone have one yet? The main thing I'm wanting to know before ordering is if it's a hollow grind. God I hope not, but it sort of looks like it on the coldsteel website picture.

To me the problem is the inability to remove the handle so I can have it rehardened...

I am not so sure Vg-1 is a big an improvement over AUS8 - VG-1 vs. AUS8 composition comparison

I would have MUCH preferred that they kept the srk in carbon steel.
My trailmaster and recon have performed great with the sk-5
sk-5 would be preferable in a survival knife for me, no interest in the aus or vg in this knife.
That said my lawman and peacekeeper in aus 8 have been good to me but I prefer carbon in a hard use blade.
