Anyone hear if a new Para 2 Sprint Run might be released?

Hello all my fellow B.F.ers. I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about a potential Sprint run this year for the Paramilitary 2? I'm not referring to an exclusive, but a real deal sprint run from Spyderco. I have seen knives categorized as "Sprints" probably thousands of times when they were actually exclusives. And if you go to the Spyderco website you can see that there are only 4 actual Paramilitary "Sprints". The first being the Paramilitary 1 in 2008 with foliage scales and D2 blade steel, the first Para 2 Sprint which is the carbon fiber S90V in 2010, the grey g-10 Paramilitary 2 from 2011, and the other carbon fiber with S90v/154CMP blade steel from 2014.
One of our own moderators was nice enough to send me the link from Spyderco that describes the difference between sprints and exclusives and then all of them that have been released. Although some of the Exclusives have had very colored scales and exotic blade steels I am only interested in the actual Sprints runs from Spyderco. Any input would be much appreciated as it seems like another should be coming along in the near future and if I were to guess I'd say it will have a red scale with some exotic steel. Oh stellite would be a dream :).
Thank you for your guys support and I hope to hear from some of you who may know when the next official Para 2 Sprint run will be released. Thank you for your time and take care. Sincerely, Ryan

The last sprint run of Para-Military2 was in early 2014:

  • Composite blade of CPM-154/S90V with peel-ply CF

There were a few dealer exclusives (to me they're like Sprint Runs) released lately either as new runs or continuations:

  • Elmax / Foliage Green G-10
  • S35VN / Brown G-10
  • CTS-204P / Dark Green G-10

I would like to see a composite K390 .I believe this would be a highly sought after model. After Spyderco finishes the expansion of the Golden facility, then more sprints and high demand/ new production models may be produced. The expansion has lasted a few years and is still a work in progress to the best of my knowledge.Who knows what the future holds? There might be a few releases already in the pipeline. There are always a few good surprises each year that Spyderco releases.

The M390 will be back in at Bento Box Shop at some point in the future supposedly.

The general word from Spyderco seems to be that they're trying to reduce Para2 sprints, probably so they can better keep up with demand for the production knives, which is an ongoing struggle.

Thanks for the info guys. All great points. I still love my 2010 Sprint S90V Para 2. Best Spydie IMO. Can get it sharp as a razor and it holds it for a good, long time. Great knife, too bad its so expensive. Like it so much I ended up buying 3 of them. Its amazing how smooth they came from the factory. Not stiff at all. Well thanks for the info and if anyone hears anything please drop me a line. Take care.

What about the fluted carbon fiber para2? Is that confirned as an "in the pipeline" sprint or is it just a really cool prototype that may not see production??

No pics that I know of, but it's been whispered about for a while now and a few people have posted about seeing it at shows.
I don't think Spyderco allowed anyone to photograph the knife at the shows.I would like to see a picture also of this unicornish model.I would not mind a future sprint with micarta scales. We still have over four months left in the year, so you just never know what may suddenly just drop from Spyderco.

Now you are speaking my language.

Maybe 9v with the same grey diamond scales as on the Manix CruwearCruwearCruwear

Yes, 3V would be nice, perhaps LC200 and also 9V. I haven't heard anything about 9V ever being used for knives though even though the charts show a very tough steel with excellent wear resistance. Any reason not to use 9V in a knife?
