Anyone hear much about SIFU's any more?

I was sitting here playing with my SIFU and I got to thinking, this is a great knife, any other SIFU lovers still around?
 
The Sifu is still one of my favorites. I own two. Unfortunately, mine never get any carry time because I like the Camillus Maxx and Aftermath even better.

The Sifu may have my favorite blade shape of all time and its grip isn't far behind. I wish it were lighter, thinner, and had at least a lower guard. And I've never been quite 100% confident about the lock, although mine both seem to be solid.

One of these days I should look for a custom maker who would build me a hybrid with the best features from all three designs. Sifu blade, flipper/guard, Aftermath grip with Sifu-style finger indentations, titanium scales, and a frame lock.

Can anyone tell me who designed the Sifu?

Look in the archives for the REKAT forum. Should answer your questions.

A lot of the design was done here.
 
Yep, and a fine design it was/is too. Some have complained about lock-up problems but mine has never failed to please and I carried and used that knife A LOT.
It's still one of my very favorite "never gonna give this one up" knives. :)
It has now been retired due to a lack of obtainable back-ups in case this one got lost or stolen. I can't really see it failing and I dearly love it so it gets taken out frequently so old friends can stay in touch.

I really wish REKAT hadn't given up making knives as I really believe they had the ability to take this knife(and the Rolling Lock in general) to the next level.

I think of REKAT and am reminded of all the potential that was there now just blowing away in the wind. Too bad... :(

Still have mine, semi-retired it is. Probably slightly ahead of its time, but it blazed the trail for the megafolders we have today.
 
liked the basic design but the lock sucks i had 2, both had lock probs. imho the cammilus maxx is a lot better knife if ya want a mega folder. the factory reps on the REKAT forum werent the most helpful/friendly folks either, i remember once they went 6 months without responding in their forum that cant be good for business, i guess they were busy fixing all the defective sifu locks lol. but in the beginning, when i first got mine and the lock worked correctly, i loved them, look at my user name................i guess thats why i rag them so hard now(well, that and i honestly do think the lock isnt a good design, especially on the big bladed sifu, the smaller ones didnt seem to have the problem as bad), kinda like a girlfriend who does ya wrong that ya really liked, ya get mad every time ya hear her name lol......
