I found a knife being called an Emerson Nova for sale and i am wondering about it. I'm not an expert, but i have never heard of this model Emerson. It looks exactly like a Max/Mach-1. A few details that may or may not be significant. There is no model name on the blade. It just says Emerson Knives and a year. There is no marking at all on the opposite side. The clip is attached to the handle using two different types of screws. Is this a knock of or inferior version of the Max/Mach-1? Thanks guys.

I belive that knife did NOT make it past the drawing stage. It MIGHT have had a prototype made but , I don't think there was.

Also it didn't look much like the Mach1/Max model much.

Can you post a pictue of it?

i found it on eBay. I am very tempted to get it, but i don't know about the name and the fact that it has two types of screws on the clip. I have since found a knife called the Nova on a few other sites, but the handle looks a little different. This one looks exactly like a Max/Mach-1. Damn! I dunno...i wanna grab it if its real and just misnamed or something. I'm torn. I've been looking for a Max/Mach-1 with plain edge and non-coated for a while with no luck.

After talking with the seller, he did some of his own research and concluded that the Nova was in fact another knife that looked very similar but not exactly like a Max-1. I decided to grab it and hope for the best. I'll probably send it to Emerson Knives to get looked over and if real, then refurbed to as new as possible.

Thanks for that link jp. The Emerson looks like the real deal to me. But what do I know?
Congrats on the score!

Thats the M-1, I have a black one that has just the same blade markings.

Yeah i saw a bunch of waved versions of this for sale a while back here. What is the difference between the M-1 and the Max-1 or Mach-1? Is it just another renaming like the Mach-1 underwent when it had to be changed to Max-1? Or were some of the specs different? Anyone have any info on this? Thanks.

The knife I have is a non waved "Mach-1", "M-1" is just a shorter name for the same knife IIRC.
The Max-1 is probably the same knife or could be a larger version being a "max".

Well, the knife arrived yesterday and i am seriously digging it. It feels nice and solid. I was wrong about the screws being different types. It just looked that way in the pics because one of the screws was stripped of its coating. It's really smooth opening and though the liner seems kinda thin, it locks up solidly at the halfway point every time. The thumb disk is black, while the blade is satin. Is that standard? Anyway, any concerns i had that the knife might be some kind of knock-off were put to rest. This simply has to be the real deal. It just reeks of stout quality and rightness. I love it. I have been wanting one a Mach-1 for years. Now that i have it, i am extremely pleased with it. Very cool.

I've bought from the same guy off ebay. Great person to deal with. That is a Mach1 knife. At least that is what I thought it was. Keepem sharp
