Checking the Lionsteel area of the Manufacturer's section of Bladeforums, I happened to see a thread from Mr. Sal Glesser welcoming Gianni (I think he is one of the owners of Lionsteel...not sure about it though...).
Gianni, amongst other things, said that he is doing something for Spyderco...He mentioned it as "SpyLion Sr-1" proto.

Now...Lionsteel makes great knives, their SR-1 is just a dream and they are the company tapped by Esee for their new Esee H.E.S.T. folder.
I can only drool at the idea of a Spydie collaboration with Lionsteel.

Anyone know anything more about this?

That sounds nice. :)
Spyderco has worked with Fox in Italy.
Lionsteel is hot now, let's get them even busier! :D

Sal and Gianni are working on a Spyderco influenced SR-1 with a hole in the blade. I was one of the few able to see a prototype picture at Blade this year and it looked really good, better than I thought it would. I would think that Gianni has made a real prototype by now and I know Sal requested it be titanium instead of the aluminum. Hopefully they will get made but I know Sal wants to meet a certain price and I don't know if the SR-1 can be made and be a worthy project for everyone involved as I'm sure it is an expensive knife to make. I will be getting a couple to go with my SR-1 if they do make it to market!

should be interesting. itll be cool to see them integrate the hole into that knife. also i wonder what steel theyll be using? maybe sleipner like the sr1 has? or maybe something else new? i kinda hope just not s30v.

I'm in big time . . .

I am currently mopping the drool off of my shoes.

If the SR-1 had a Spyderhole it would be FABULOUS!

Thanks for the info!

The proto pic you saw was very similar to the SR-1 (I mean, "just" like an SR-1 with a Spyderco hole in it?) or did it have anything that particularly striked you?

Gianni (Lion) and Gabrielle (Fox) designed our Volpe model (G & G).

We should see a proto at SHOT. European steel.

What I saw was just like the SR-1 with a hole in the blade.

And if their is an option of the Sleipner steel I am all for it as I have been really impressed. Holds an edge for a really long time (quite a bit better than S30V) and I have seen zero sign of corrosion and have done no maintenance, even down here in humid Florida.
