I don't really carry a knife for self-defense purposes (I would use it if I had/needed to) so this is not a "I need a knife for personal defense" thread. I'm actually curious if this design lends itself to being a good EDC.

I like a wharncliffe blade quite a bit and the idea of my main folder being a wharncliffe is appealing to me.

I'd love to hear your experiences and would love to see your pics!

The Yo2 is an outstanding knife. I carry mine often. It carries small and light but packs a good size blade. The handle is contoured great for my hands (I have large hands). I find my Yo2 w/ DLC S90V blade and brown G10 to be a great stealth carry.

I'm hoping that they decide to make a bigger Yo2. That's very high on my wish list. They could call it the "Shogun".

Oooooh , just gave myself chills.

One of the sickest blade shapes ever.

Used mine daily at work for a few months before work became a little more strict with knives. Used it for cardboard, plastic wrap, strapping and a bunch of other odds and ends. Even managed to drop it tip first on concrete without much of an issue. The tip’s a bit bent but otherwise still useable. One of the better edc’s I’ve tried and killed any notion of going back to an edc with a deep belly. Wharnecliffs and blade shapes like the delica is where it’s at for edc IMO.

I've owned one for years and used it regularly at first but haven't carried it or used it much lately...don't know why really...it's a cool design and the blade is wicked sharp. No belly to speak of but it feels good in the hand with the thumb extended on the spine.

Great, great utility knife. Unfortunately, I find it a bit of a 'tweener for my needs, a bit too short or too long depending on the need. I'd love to see a mini or an XL.

Also, I hear tell there's some jerk giving one away over in the forum which must not be named. ;)

The only knife I’ve ever held that made me uncomfortable...I ordered a yojimbo a few years ago, when it arrived it was super oily (ie slippery) on the blade AND I had never had a compression lock before, it took me a good 3 days to get comfortable handling it, amazingly without and blood loss!

It’s and incredible piercing blade and slices very well, I’m always paranoid about the tip but no issues yet.

I occasionally EDC mine. Feels great in hand although a little bigger than I prefer for that role.

If you like Warncliffe blades and don't mind large knives, it's worth a try. I think it is one of Spydercos most under appreciated designs.

As long as your use is not impaired by a really pointy tip (risk of unintended punctures), it is a great knife. Just gotta watch the tip more than most blades. I have small hands, unlike some of the other posters and I STILL find it to be a very ergonomic blade, easy open, easy handling, and easy to carry. I have two.

I love carrying it for EDC. I usually carry 3 knives with me at all times. The Yojimbo 2 is my EDC ( I like so much that I am looking to get the fixed version the Ronin 2) my tactical is something like a Manix 2 XL or a Military.
And the 3rd is a 3.5" fixed blade IWB. I don't have a Spyderco fixed yet but I am looking for a Street Beat and the Ronin 2.
So the answer is yes it makes a great EDC, just don't pry anything with the tip.

The Y2 is my bodyguard at night, for me the reason to carry it is strictly for protection. It was not designed for opening boxes, cutting cables or skinning 4 legged animals. I use a Delica 4 to edc for work and play duties.

If you like a wharncliff Blade check out the Kershaw needs Work for about 1/3 the cost and tougher tip.

Regardless , the Yo2 its a great knife to use for basic edc tasks. Doesn't just have to be for stabbing "thugs".
