These are my Babies...I bought them back in 2005 as small baby plants in 4" pots. I have grown them on my deck and moved them indoors as house plants in the winter. They are very versitile plants. They like sun and shade and also can withstand the gloomy Midwestern winters. They produce fewer leaves in the winter but the continue to grow. They are happiest in warm weather as they are zone 9 plants and also respond very well to fertilizer but are very content plants...

this year the plant on the right lost all of its leaves after being moved outdoors and I was worried it was not going to survive...but it has put four leaves on this summer after a heavy fertilizer and a repotting.

Looks a lot like alocasia portadora but the leaf is less frilly. Look like happy plants to me.

I grow them as well. The hurricanes of a few years back left me a few species each of alocasia, colocasia and xanthosoma.

Ren, those are the largest marijuana plants I've ever seen. Nice job.

Seriously, my mother used to have some about that size.

I can't kill the darned things. Ordinary weed spray doesn't work, only makes them temporarily sick. Tried to dig some out once, the tubers were huge and over two feed down. And they always break off when I try to pull them.

The only success, using a q-tip to apply Round-Up Concentrate directly on the leaves.

If a plant is ailing; why would repotting help it recover? I thought replanting was a bit rough on a plant.

Hi Ren,
Planting it in the ground would be best, to give the roots room to spread out and get more nutrition. But ofcourse that would mean you can't take it indoors anymore during a cold winter. Your mileage various from mine. A much larger pot might be your best option.

They're all over the place here. A bit of a weed, but a good looking one so we usually keep it. I've got a really huge one growing in the back of a shed here. Atleast my height (5 11) and lots of stalks. I would take a photo but I also planted a couple of eucalypt trees that have become really big and they're covering the elephant ear.

Good god man -- yer gonna have monkeys swinging round in yer backyard soon!!!!

From our recent trip to Thailand.

BTW, I purposely cropped out my face. I've seen what happens to faces posted on BF!

Next time, use some stuff from Ortho called Ground Clear.

Works better than Roundup, is much cheaper, and kills stuff dead on the first application.

Don't use it where you plan to replant right away as this stuff lasts 1 year.
