I recently ran across a knife made by Lightfoot Knives. I wrote an email to them asking for info, and learned that the knife was made from BG-42 steel, and made about 12 years ago. He doesn't recall the name of the model. I was just wondering if anyone here knew what model it is and what it might be worth?

Not much help but the blade shape reminds me of the discontinued Bladetech Rijbak folder which was a Lightfoot design. Both Lightfoot knives and BG-42 steel are highly regarded.

I'm not sure which Lightfoot that one is but I've always loved his fixed blades and the BG 42 performs very well. He's famous for his tactical folders and for hunting hogs with his knives. Greg is an excellent custom maker out of Alberta ( Canada) and was President of the Canadian Knifemakers Guild. He's a really great guy too. The fixed blades are a bargain but that means they aren't particularly valuable in terms of price as customs go ranging from about 400 to about 600 to buy new, depending, and I have no idea what the resale is for one that has been used. But they are extremely good knives, very well balanced and tough. Some of my favourites. My first customs many years ago were a Lightfoot Predator fixed blade and Predator backup folder, both no longer made.

Thanks for the input guys. I am wanting to work out a deal or a trade with the owner, but neither of us have a good idea as to a fair price for it. He said he thought he had it for about 8 years but that if Mr. Lightfoot says it's twelve years old that he's likely had it that long. He doesn't really remember for sure It was barely used any at all and then i's been in a box the whole time since. It's still very sharp, shows no signs of having been sharpened, and I think the only wear in the bead blast finish is from going in and out of the sheath.

Ditto - Great maker, very balanced, I love his work folders and fixed blades.

Thanks man, so far we have succeeded in making me want the knife more...now if I can just find out a fair price to offer I'll be getting closer to getting it :)
