Hey guys, I need a favor from someone who might live around Orange County California. I have a Spyderco Delica that needs a sharpening but I don't know how to use a sharpener or have a good sharpener. I was wondering if there was anyone who lives around this area that has a spyderco sharpener that could sharpen my delica to a razor edge for a small amount of money. If there's anyone who lives around this area that can help me out, please let me know.

We are almost neighbors my friend, I am in Hayward. ;)

South Coast Plaza has a knife shop that sharpens knives for a couple bucks an inch I believe. It may be less.

thanks mazza, I think I'll make a trip there tomorrow. Thanks for your help

oh and yeah you're welcome for the offer to sharpen your knife for free

According to Spyderco's website, you only have to pay for shipping if you send it to Spyderco to sharpen.

lol thanks for the offer lacie, but i might as well pay 6 bucks to have it sharpened there since I'm already going to southcoast tomorrow. I don't want to have to bother you plus pay for shipping to your house and back.

Here's what you do.

Take a drive to Colorado and visit the Spyderco factory. Get your knife sharpened and walk around the factory outlet :D

no sweat.. i was just busting your chops :D ...it would have been no bother though, I enjoy sharpening... you should pick up a sharpmaker and teach yourself, its extremely rewarding.

Take extra money! You're bound to find something at Plaza that you can't live without :) It's a great store and usually has a nice collection of customs.

I was at Plaza Cutlery a couple of weeks ago and I had to make myself leave,
that place has a lot of goodies. J. Mac is right, bring some extra cash.

They are a real retail store in one of the most expensive shopping malls in the country. They're probably not the cheapest place to buy a Spyderco or Benchmade, but they're the nicest people and they have stuff you just can't find anywhere else. A couple years ago I visited and they turned me on to this guy Tom Mayo. I couldn't conceive of the price of his knives, but a year later, I waited a year to get one I could afford! I've seen John W. Smith's in stock, CF Terzuolas, etc.. All sorts of stuff right there for you to take home:)

Yeah, it seemed like a really high end shop from the website, but not in the advanced cutlery way.

Ross Cutlery downtown LA also has a decent selection of production knives at decent brick and mortar prices. They can't match internet prices, but you get to play with them before you buy them. Their sharpening service is so-so. I think they might do a better job if you tell them not to hurry.

I'm not so addicted that I will get myself into customs! No, I'm not!

I just checked their website. Damn....I wish we had a store like this in my part of the world. :( :(

Their prices are very closer or at msrp. However, for a lot of knives it's worth it because you can handle them before hand along with hundreds if not thousands of others. It's fun getting to feel 3 or 4 $200 knives.
