I'm interested in some of their models, but especially interested in their line of hawkbill-folders known as "Garra." Anyone have an opinion on them, good or bad? Thanks.

I'v not got any knives under the "blackhawk" name but i do have an auto ladyhawk and a razorback from the original MOD comp.

Both good, well made knives, I have no idea how things might have changed but im sure they will still be fine.

I'd also take a look at the Spyderco Superhawk if your looking for that sort of knife. better ergos, materials and lock than on the BH Garra, IMO.

I have the big CQD folder, their flagship knife. It is big and has excellent blade steel. 154cm steel. I really like it. I wished a person had the option of the exact same knife without the seatbelt cutter though. I still think it would make an outstanding knife to throw into an emergency bag or first-aid kit because of the belt cutter-that could be used to cut clothing as well.

I would say go ahead and get one. They are well made. I would shop around for the knife because it is exspensive to order from the factory. Good luck.

a friend of mine has one of the older mod folders. well made, solid knife.

i find them odd looking, but that says nothing of their quality, which appears to be very good. blackhawk products tend to be of good to high quality.
