Old script bottles or empty cigar tins successfully in their kits??

The tins are not waterproof, but would serve as good organizational units.

Not sure/convinced the script bottles are waterproof either. Most I have are 90-day supply ones with screw on tops.

Anyone tested these for integrity??

I have a large script bottle in my tackle box...It's got some different size bandaids,small packs of neosporen,headache pills, cotton balls....etc. pretty much a small FAK. I washed it out & tore all lables off & then wrapped it with some ducttape ;) I have not really tested it to see how waterproof it is .
 
I have used old script bottles for some things but habve found them not to be water proof for dunking. I like the small pelican boxes, as I have tested them in some pretty rough conditions and sudden temperature changes and think they should be fine in my pack. I think I am going to pick up a couple of the larger Bison tubes to replace the small pill fobs I have...or at least to go along with them, I know they are water proof.
 
I've used script bottles.. in the past in some of my kits.... they serve there purpose, but I wouldn;t take one to Atlantis if you know what I mean....but they keep things dry enough int the rain....
 
by cigar tins do you mean the tubes, or the tins that cigarellos come in?

I think the cigarello tins would work but they are kinda small, the tubes are too flimsy, they crush and bend very easily and the lids don't stay on as well as I would like for gear . on the other hand the cedar linning from the tubes makes decent tinder. its too bad, I have a dencent supply of tubes,

If the contents of the script bottles need to be totally waterproof, then I would suggest wrapping some teflon tape around the threads and that should do the trick.

My favorite water tight container is the "airborne" tubes.. you know?? the immune booster stuff .. I have a bunch of them that I saved and I get from friends..:thumbup:

Never was a fan of the prescription bottles, unless I took a piece(maybe 2) of inner tube and cut it to fit inside the lid..

Just looking for suggestions because of the number (and various sizes) of bottles we seem to generate every couple moths or so as we get older..LOL
