Anyone here using their Ubejane for bushcrafting?

Just wondering if anyone here uses their Ubejane for bushcrafting/survival type activities.
I've had one for years and used it while camping and such just for general cutting and food prep but was always a bit worried to use it really hard.
Does anyone here baton or do any other type of hard use activities with theirs?
I was always worried that the edge might be too thin or too brittle and I didn't want to risk chipping it.
Looking forward to your answers. Thanks.

I have not owned or used one, but I remember PiterM used to have one(horn removed) he always took camping and did some posts.Maybe you can find something in the archives. You may be right though about the edge, for it was designed to be a skinner if memory serves meSorry I can't be more help

Here is a link to his knife he calls the scout

Thanks alot! I remember Piter from way back. Funny, I've been here almost 10 years and I have less than 100 posts.

I use one quite a bit for bushcraft. I find it to be a very usefull knife. It can baton but the false edge does eat the baton a bit. I have also done a fair bit of light chopping and prying with it as well as gutting fish etc. It's a good knife, use it and enjoy it. :)

Here's a quick pic from my last outing......

Yes, I used mine a lot in the field! Chopping included, of course. It's a great knife and it's in fact very hard to damage. It's short but the blade is quite thick & high, so it is STRONG! I reground the top of the knife to make it more "utility oriented" but as a side-effect it's now not as good chopper as it used to be (different ballance). It's more "hardcore bushcraft" now than short field chopper. But for me it's now perfect, of course.

Well... I still plan to buy a new one to have the original as well ;)
