I'm curious where others do their knife shopping? I've been doing all of mine online, but wondered if there was a good local shop that could be recommended where I can actually hold and look at the knives prior to purchasing?

Thank you in advance!

The Washington Square Mall used to have a knife shop in it,not sure that it still does, have'nt been there in years. There was also a shop close to the Greyhound Bus Depot, have'nt been there for years either.I do my knife purchasing online almost exclusively anymore.

Hi,
I've been to Excalibur in the Washington Square mall, but they are so expensive! Yikes! I was also bummed because they only carried the Spyderco Delica and Endura in stock and I was looking to feel out the Military and Paramilitary. I'll have to look for the shop by the bus depot and see if its still there. I just prefer to feel out a knife in my hand before buying.

Thanks for the tip!

Its not a knife shop, but I use to go to Northwest Armory a lot when I was collecting guns. It has been several years since I've been in there, but they use to have a good selection of knives too. I picked up some pre-production and a couple prototype Benchmades from them, and IIRC they also had Spydercos and a few other brands.
They are on Mc Laughlin blvd in Milwaukee. Might be worth a check

Hawthorne Cutlery. One of, if not the last independent knife shop in Portland.
The main focus of the store is Japanese swords, autos, and a little bit of everything else.

Enjoy,
J.

Thank you very much for that! Will definitely drive on by.

This one has actually been on my list to check out and I've heard great things about them. Thank you!
