Anyone interested in another Knife in the Hat this year?

Just checking in to see if any makers are interested in another Knife in the Hat trade this year. I think the last one was pretty successful and I'm willing to put the work in again to organize it. I haven't been very prolific at all this year because work is a lot more important right now, but what I have done has been better quality because I'm taking more time/rushing less. If I could sell each knife for around $30,000 I could change professions! :D

Anyway, anyone want to do it this year?

I might get in on one. Need to know a little more about time frame and the types of knives expected. I've got a few orders to fill before christmas, and have to show up for class once in awhile too ;) I'm probably in, but can't be sure till things are squared away a little more.

Oops
Dan,
If I remember correctly everyone makes a knife, and then names are drawn so that you trade with someone else. There should be a thread or two on it somewhere.

As long as all of the knives are custom made I would be interested in putting a knife in for this also.

Oh yeah, definately all hand made. Steve will give a good time frame. I did it last year and really enjoyed it, lots of fun. I got a nice piece from Clint Chisan and our buddy Steve Sando got one of my first Crook-backs. Can't wait. Jump on in all.

Count me in, Steve!

Dan, Chris Crawford supported a nice website for the trade last year, check it out . I received a powerful tanto from Hugh, AKA 3/16ths. You can see it there I think. Along with many of the other knives of course. :D

I'd dig it if you and a lot more of us got in on this one!

Dave

I might be in depending on the timing. Tis the time of year for xmas presents and I have a couple orders to do.

Let us know what the dead line is. Looks like fun!

I'll look forward to it. Let us know hard dates, and I'll give you the final "Yea," or "Nay."

;)

Is there a "knife price" set agreed by everyone so everyone gets a knife of about the same value by another maker. (the same concept as not wanting to spend less than your girlfriend/spouse on gifts.) :D

Sounds pretty cool. I'm willing if you're willing to have me. Looks like a lot of fun.

RE: The KITH web site.

I have updates for it (very old sorry) but was having trouble with my FTP stuff on this computer. Maybe Chris will let me in and I can apply the changes. I think I have all the photos.

RE KITH

It's a great way to meet people! I know I've made a few friends and business partners. :D

Very true Steve, very true.

Thanks for posting the site. I was looking for that the other day, too.

Geez. I almost forgot I posted this! The email replies function doesn't seem to be working. Anyway, if X-mas season is too busy for people we could aim for after. I'm in no hurry and it's almosy November anyway. Just to throw the thought out, maybe keep registration open until the end of the month (Oct) then aim for January-ish or February? I like keeping it pretty open-ended rather than making a theme (i.e. kitchen knife, neck knife, etc), although I agree a value system of some sort should be selected. That said, at $30,000 a pop I may be priced out of it this year!

Let's say this for now:
1) Theme- whatever as long as it's a fully usable (i.e. normal size and heat treated) knife.
2) Sheaths when possible
3) Open registration until day after Halloween
4) Aim for the knife to be completed & sent by Feb. 1?

I'm open to any modifications to this. I want everyone who wants to do it to participate, so if we need to extend the timeframe a bit we can do so. Whatever works!

Count me in Steve. I had a good time making a knife for Dave and receiving the sweet little folder from Chris Crawford.

I'm definitely in for that, I get vacation around christmas so I'll have time no matter whats going on with school and work. Gives me some time to come up with something original too :)
