I'm trying to find out age, worth, and reputation (good, bad . . .) of these knives. Any help is appreciated!

First up is an Uncle Henry knife. Markings on blade are "Schrade-Walden Stainless 127"

Next is an Old Timer. Markings on blade are "Schrade N.Y. U.S.A. 340T"

Thanks again

I'm sure one of the experts will come in real quick here and tell you dates. They are schrade waldens so that makes them older. They became schrade waldens in 1946 I believe. then Schrade moved out of walden to ellenville in 1958 and stayed walden and then after 1974 they stopped using Schrade walden and went to just Schrade. So Id have to say they are pre 1974. The second knife 34ot which are rather common on ebay go for anywhere between $18 and $35 or more. but most of thoes are just schrades making your in my opnion a little more collectible. but probablly worth more to you than on ebay. It all depends, the condition isint perfect and if your not a collector you might get some cash for it but maybe hang on to that one. Id say that the top uncle henry might bring a good buck, its a nice knife. but if your looking for value on either just watch them on ebay, that about the closest price guide you will find and thats what they are going for. Some of the guys here will tell you not to clean them or anything and thats up to you if your collecting them to make money just put a little oil on them and leave them alone if your collecting them to keep do as you please clean them or dont its up to you. someone with more knowledge than me will probablly come along and set me straight on the years and such but I think Im close. -Joel ps as far as reputation goes in my opnion it dosent get any better than oldtimer and uncle henry.

I see I may have messed up because the old timer is a schrade NY and not a walden so my bad I will leave that to the pros. sorry -Joel

The Schrade 127 Folding Hunter you have shown has a reputation of bringing prolonged periods of bad luck to owners. This would explain the nice unused condition of this beauty of an Uncle Henry.

I have already been exposed, and withstood the spell. If you would like to avoid any bad luck, and reduce your risk, let me know.

The 34OT is a safe pattern, as shown by it's use.

The 127 by the way, easily brings $75.00 on Ebay to one willing to take on a jinxed knife like that.

By "bad luck" do you mean the blade taking your finger off when you try to close it?

If so, I agree whole heartedly.

Thanks for the info.

By bad luck I think he means he would take it off your hands for a low price... I think quite a few of us here would like to take that knife off of your hands.. After all it is jinxed You might want to let me have it so it dosent bring you anymore bad luck. ha ha - Joel

Yeah, I picked up on the not so subtle attempt to pry it out of my hands . . .
:D

He might have been more successful with a claim of the metal being a carcinogen or something like that . . .
Better luck next time.
:D

Dang. Losing my touch.:grumpy:

Very nice knife. Actually hope you hang on to it. Look out for that snap!

Depleated uranium. I have a leaded glass display case waiting on one of these. With...um...lucky clovers etched on it and...and...a kryptonite horseshoe base to keep super-fiends away. A guard chihuahua named Cujo too.

THERE YOU GO!!!

What would happen to the value of this knife if I told you that I just found the original leather sheath?

It's been a good week!

The correct original sheath in excellent condition does add to the value. As would the box and paperwork of course. The more complete the better. Congratulations on your find!! And watch out for the blade bites!
