Saw a hunter of his at a dealer's table this summer. I liked it alot but the price was out of reach at the time. It was a stock removal yet priced a bit more than the same dealer would a forged hunter by the likes of Primos and Wheeler, while the materials used didn't seem any more special nor the workmanship any better. I've been trying to find out about the maker since, but couldn't find anything. Curious as to why it was so highly valued by this particular dealer.

Thats a bail of money for a stock removel knife.IMO
For that kind of knife, you should be able to get a knife from Wheeler,Primos,or just about any mastersmith.Again only my opinion.

Yes, my thoughts too Nifrand. Unless Fannin carried name clout the way D'Holder does. I'd not heard of him, but I'm fairly new to the customs market so I wanted to find out.

It's one of those things where the knife still haunts me these months later from that one handling. Yet the price is more than I can justify for something like that. I guess I was trying to find out about the maker, in case he was famous, in order to find an excuse for the little devil on my left shoulder whispering in my ear.

There is no doubt that knife is a beaut. I've not heard of this maker before either, but I would have felt much better about handing over good earned money if the knife also had a tapered tang. That one little detail would have sweetened it for me.

Perhaps the dealer is trying to say something, like he/she wants to hang onto the knife because they like it so much... ? Jason.
