Anyone know anything about the release date of the Amalgam?

Spyderco has a superb lineup this year. As my folder collection continues to transition to mostly Spydercos, I am particularly excited about picking up the Amalgam. Any word on an expected release date? Also, will the handle material be similar to that of the Sliverax?

Well it is peel ply carbon fiber, I don't know what type but the sliverax also had CF I believe.

If you're that hyped for it make sure you pre-order, I know BHQ has them up.

That's correct. The handles are composite G10/CF, with a peel ply texture on the CF, and with nested liners.

Rough estimate appears to be (hopefully) Fall 2018, though of course that could be subject to change with all the projects Spyderco have in their pipeline and pending further feedback from the Collector's Meet, IWA, etc.

Can I ask where you're getting the estimate from? I have the same question on the Paysan. Given they already have a few factory-made prototypes out there, I'm hoping it's now in the fall

The vague-ish response I got when I asked when the release date for the Amalgam would be was that it was still a rough idea so far but they were hoping to have them by Fall. Sorry, I can't help with the Paysan, but given that these models were shown at SHOT Show, I certainly hope they come out not too far from now. This is really good practice for training my patience and slowly (ever so slowly) weaning me off of instant gratification
