You might try looking up "Heathen Bows." Last I knew, Hari Heath lived in Santa, Idaho and made "all natural" bows. Makes funky arrows. He was also in a write up in the New York Times magazine, and it was so clear that his culture was different than theirs that I nearly died of laughter.

In Spokane, there used to also be J.D. Berry, and his bows were supposed to be fabulous, but they had fibreglass backing.

Ustulina - Do you remember the date of the magazine article about Hari Heath?

Hari makes very good bows.

It would have been a while back, in the year range 1992-1994. It was during the time that the news media was convinced that the Montana Militia and its ilk offered a credible threat to national security.

I think that Hari made the cover. He's holding a bow and there's an A-frame cabin behind him. New York Times Sunday magazine. It might have been called "Off the Grid." Actually, the article said absolutely squat about Hari's skills. You might be able to do a search on the New York Times website, but if you're looking for bowyer info, you'd be disappointed...
