Anyone know how to achieve this effect?

Planning to try some ferric acid this week. Wish I could get it to look like they do at Zombie Tools.

I believe that is done with coldblue and bleach. Ya might investigate that process through google.

Cold Blue and bleach! I’ve done it on a few carbon steel blades in the past. Works quickly and easily, just watch out for the fumes.

You might be able to get that finish using ferric chloride by soaking a paper towel in ferric chloride and bunching it up, then applying it to the blade and putting the whole shebang inside a dedicated lidded plastic container. You'll need to experiment to dial in the time, the bunching and how wet to get the paper towel. Alternatively, try misting the surface with a spraying method that produces large droplets - first with water, then with ferric chloride.
