Looking for a folder with something like the safety grip on the Chameleon. TIA.

The Gerber Chameleon is the only folder I've seen with with the large hole in the pivot area. The only other knives I've seen with the feature are fixed blade neck knives like Fred Perrin's designs and knives like the Emerson LaGriffe, CRKT Bear Claw, and a recent Taylor Cutlery (S&W) model. Gerber also has the River Guide knife with the feature as well.

About what I thought. A friend really likes the Chameleon III but hates Gerber. There is no pleasing some people.

They are unique looking knives, but I prefer the original Gerber Bolt Actions. I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that the locking mechanisms on the older Bolt Actions were better than the ones used on the Chameleons.

Haven't tried the new ones, but I do have two older bolt actions and can't complain about either. Very nice system.
