the sheath on ym favourite sword was falling apart so i scrapped it and tried to make a new one, it holds the sword but that's about all that can be said for the result of my attempt, i feel i need a fairly presentable sheath at least, anyone know what route to take?

It might help if you were to give some indication of what type of sword it is and maybe a photo ??

Suggestion- liner of brushed but unwashed sheepskin to keep the blade always oiled.

don't have a photo, but it's a straight bladed eastern sword a ninjato/katana cross, with the blade length of a katana as well as the tsuba but with the sturdy angular straight blade of a ninjato

if it is katana like and has a blade collar/habaki, it really should have a wood saya made for it (no sheepskin required).

Cheers

Sheep are like shields; not traditionally Japanese.
