Anyone know their history on Aftershock Bolos?

In all my trading of Busses through the years (before getting married, anyway), I ended up with a lusted-after Aftershock Bolo...however it ended up that the one I received was sterile...so no markings or numbering like any of the others I've seen.

In contacting Home Base (the Busse shop), they indicated that they believed it was part of a military overrun...but I can't find any information about any overruns of Aftershocks...so I'm wondering if anyone in the infinite wisdom of Bladeforums has any information? How many of them are out there? How many went to military issue? If anyone remembers the donations many of us made for knives for our troops (where we got dogtags which matched those provided to the troops), were these part of it?

Shrinking the image lost some deatails, so:
The marks are simply an effect of the reflections. The bolster area shows the typical INFI pockmarks, everything else polished, paper micarta handles...

I don't know the history, but I snagged a CG AB a couple of years ago.

Didn't even know there was a CG AB

Black coating, canvas micarta scales, zero edge in an Okuden sheath!

I keep it my day bag, but leave it in the truck (mostly) when I enter the building. Got some strange looks the last time I pulled it out at work :D. It's my favorite

Wow! Interesting already. I'd forgotten that the original serialed Aftershock Bolos were followed by some Combat Grade ones with linen micarta...I wonder how many of those are around as well.

If mine didn't have the paper-micarta handles, I'd wonder if someone had just cleaned of a CG one.

p.s. - Hopefully my pics are loading now!

...Somehow, I wound up with #1... Has a different logo than most.

...I didn't know about the overrun version, thanxx for the info!

I wonder what triggered this thread ???? nothing to see here... I have to go back and monitor that one site....

Honest trigger for the question...I was stuck at home sick in a massive snowstorm, and the wife was tying up my fun room, so I pulled out a box of Busses that I hadn't been through in a while and taking a stack of pictures with a new camera. I realized that this was the one I didn't really know the history on (I knew the PH, ARK, Basics, etc.), wanted to learn more, and thought others might as well.

To me, the Aftershock one of the more attractive and interesting Busse blades made.

Wow! That's a blast from the past!

I was still working at Blade Tech when I made those sheaths. As I recall, they were informally known as "GPB" sheaths at the time as only Frank and I think maybe that other guy knew where they were from.

They were a project that was promoted by Andy Prisco, who at the time was a Busse sales representative.
I believe the goal was to produce a (quite;)) affordable semi-custom based on a design of an absolutely awesome bolo custom that he had aquired from Busse.
I do not believe they were any part of Military over runs, but just a cool project.
The Satin/Serial #'d Aftersocks should all have paper Micarta scales, with the exception of (at least) a couple that were refitted with canvas Micarta.

I'll see if I can find a pic of the original custom that led to the Aftershock.

I just reread the question and IIRC, there might have been around 100 of them produced in the satin/serial style.

I had a snipe bid in just under, it's about right, right now. The E's have slowed a bit lately.

Your right, it was a good score.

I was a little surprised it didn't go a bit higher... Did not break the reserve price barrier.

So lots of discussion, but no one knows anything more about a satin AB with no number?

Purely speculation here... But maybe Jerry allowed someone to order theirs sterile... I have requested this in the past on a few LE offerings, some were approved, some were not.
