I picked up this knife today at a shopping center from a little watch shop in the middle of the walk way. They sell watches, knives, multi tools etc.

So what I was wondering is if anyone can identify this knife? I want to know if its a quality knife or if its just a cheapo. I somehow remember seeing it on the internet somewhere. All it says on it is "SAS extreme ops" on the blade near the thumb hole but I cant find any information on it on the net. It was only $25 (AUD) so I wouldnt be surprised if it was a cheapo knife. Thanks in advance.
PS. Sorry for bad quality pics, didnt have a camera on me :thumbdn:

Looks like Chinese made to me. A friend of mine from AU bought a knife with only Spyderco on the blade and it was from China as it turned out.(Spyderco wanted it and gave her a real Spyderco in return, as it was not made by them) So it seems there's a lot of Chinese knives there with no country where manufactured. In the USA the law states they are supposed to be marked. You still see some unmarked here but not many.

Out of curiosity (Im new to the whole knife scene), what makes you think its made in China? Thanks again.

No markings on the blade besides what you pointed out, is a strong indicator combined with the way it looks.

Test how the knife works. If it works fine no problems. That's like 95% sure a chinese no name brand. Still not all knock off's are bad in quality. Most are not all.

Calling a knife "SAS EXTREME OPS" or some such tactical/military/paramilitary/survival/tough/commando/kick-ass name usually does not bode well for its actual qualities. The SAS themselves prolly use Wenger SAK's, lmao. :D

The knife works amazingly. It's sharp enough to shave the hair off my arm (no sharpening from me, this is straight out of the shop), and the blade won't move one bit without unlocking it.

In a situation like that, which knife does Spyderco send them? Is it dependent on how much the person paid, or do they just have a go-to spydie to send off to counterfeit victims? just kinda curious...

I don't believe you will find it's a practice or policy of theirs to replace all counterfeits with real spydercos. The situation above may have had special circumstances. There are thousands of counterfeit knives out there. It would run them broke trying to replace counterfeit knives bought for $5 with real spydercos costing $50 or more.

My opinion, but don't get your hopes up.

My Aussie friend bought a knife she thought was a real Spyderco in a shop.
I didn't think it was and posted it's picture here. It despite having the trademarked logo on the blade, was a counterfeit. So a Spyderco representative noticed the thread and requested she send it to them, for examination. They sent her a Delica in return, because they wanted the counterfeit.

I recently bought 2 knives with the brand "SAS Extreme Ops"

One was $25 and looked just like this version of the smith and wesson extreme ops.

Which turned out to be OK, not great though.

The other was a small urban camo knife with about 2.75 inch blade (1/2 serrated), I payed $20 for it and it's great, I love it.

So basically, with the knock-off knives, some turn out good, some turn out bad, it's a gamble.
