Don't know how many of you were around 1999-2001 or so, but a Hawaiian knifemaker was impressing the heck out of everyone here with his incredible ATS-34 machete designs. I still use my SBM (Straight Back Machete) all the time! I looked around and he isn't around anymore. I know he had an injury of some type that took him away from grinding for a while and then that was it. Anyone know what actually happened? He was making some really cool stuff then just disappeared... sort of like Sean Perkins, too, I suppose.

Not 100% sure, but I think I remember reading that he had become very ill and was unable to make knives/machetes any longer. His work was amazing and very affordable from what I remember.

I have one of his Parangs and it really performs well, I think he really did an excellent job on h/t Ats-34. Last I heard he was ill, I sure hope he is ok. Nice guy and excellent maker.
