I have been asking around if anyone has any Schrade knives for sale or knows anyone who does. I live only 4 miles from the factory.
I just aquired 10 fixed blades and 28 folders from a guy who worked there.
One in particular has me confused. It is the same size as a PH1 but the tangstamp (SCHRADEU.S.A.) and the engraving on the blade is on the opposite side of every other PH1 and 2 that I have. The handle appears to be delrin.
I have attached some photos and hopefully they will come thru.
Also with that group is a D.U. PH2 stag with dark stag on one side and light on the other.Any idea if that is unusual?
The last one I haven't seen is a 156 white bone with a tinge of blue with a tang stamp of SCHRADE+
U.S.A.WB
Thank you all for all the Schrade info. Much appreciated.

Anytime a natural material like bone or stag was used, particularly when burnt, a lot of variance was involved (and more rejects). I have a DU knife with a gold filled Baron blade etch which was rejected because the two burnt stagged bone covers didn't match.. one light and one dark, and I have an 897 Premium Stockman also a reject. One side is thin, nearly like the stock staglon, and the other is fat.

I've seen those white bone knives recently on eBay, but haven't a clue as to the issue.

The PH2 with the lefthand stamp and etch may have been intended for Europe. I've seen sample orders where the European sales representative specified such. The stamp in that case was actually built into the blanking die, and caused a problem when the order was changed to the standard tang stamp location, also by the sales rep. It then required a seperate stamping operation, adding to the production costs.

Yes, I'd like to see your pictures!

Beauties eh?

Larry. Thank you for posting the pics.
I spent hours over LT's yesterday talking about many things and I am sad to say my mind is not a sponge as his is. I usually come out of there a tad overwelmed with all the info and it takes a while or never to get absorbed.
I asked him to post a reply as I brought the knives for him to see, but he will not.
All of these knives I have been collecting with my son who is 12 and I make him a big part of the process hoping they will mean more to him as he gets older.
Patrick and I have been over to LT's numerous times and the second time we were there LT gave him a LB-7 tang as a gift. (He still has that in his nightstand draw along with the 897UH he gave Patrick the first time we met him.)
The reason I am telling all this is that LT wanted the PH2 stag with 2 different color sides for his collection. It is a salesman sample.
I told him I would have to ask Patrick as he really liked that one too.
I asked Patrick last night and he said if LT wanted it it was o.k. with him. He is the only guy I think we should give it up to Dad.
The knife I like the best, the bear etch and scroll work on the handles, LT didn't. He thought it was possibly made to fit the order or the box or possibly a prototype. He said quite a bit more about it but my brain can only take so much at a time.
I bought these knives a few days ago ( 8 fixed @ 14.00 ea. and 28 folders @9.00 ea.) from someone who used to work at the factory. It was a good day for us.
When I figure out how to post pics. I will post the 7 Canal Street folders Wally gave Patrick for an old punch press I had.

Anyone visiting LT will walk out of his house over whelmed. I doubt there is another place on the planet like it. I have posted pictures from my visit in the past which I'll dig out and put on the web site. There is little space in his house left that hasnt been used for displaying his collection. Just an amazing site. Besides he is one of the most generous, cordial, welcoming man I've run across.
