Howdy all, I am new to the site. I was wondering if anyone knew of a couple sites where I could buy a nice skinning blade? I would like to try and make a knive out of my first whitetail deer that I harvested. Any help would be great. I really don't have a clue what I am doing but i would like to give it a try. Any advise on how I should go about doing it and what tools I would need also where I could get the stuff would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Tim

Tjmjchaffin, Welcome to Bladeforums!

Given that you said you want a "custom" knife blade, there are a ton of great makers here on this forum who could make you a blade to your own specifications, leaving the handle off. Check out their websites or photo postings in The Gallery forum here on BFC to see whose work speaks to you most. The Gallery address:

After you've gotten your deer, check out the tutorials on Dan Gray's webpage for info on knifemaking, including handles. http://www.knivesby.com/knifemaking.html

For commercial-grade blades, Scandi-style blades work well for those who want to put on their own custom handle. Here are links to a couple of Scandinavian style blade vendors:
1. Ragweed Forge http://www.ragweedforge.com/
2. Thompson's Scandinavian Knife Supply http://home.comcast.net/~bradjarvis3/
