Just started getting into making my own arrows, and would love to find some cheap carbon shafts. All the ones I have seen online are quite expensive, just as much as it costs to buy an arrow.

Anybody know of some site where I can get some good deals?

I buy 90% of my archery supplies (traditional and compound) on-line from Lancaster Archery Supply, 3 Rivers and Keystone Country Store. They all offer great prices and fantastic service.

Just for the record all carbon is not created equal. Really the only carbon suitable for shafting was made, and consequently is sold, as such. Sorry mate.

Side note a friend of mine actually died quite a slow painful death from grinding carbon shafts without a respirator. Just in case you weren't aware you REALLY want to protect yourself when cutting those.

What exactly do you mean by that?

Really sorry for your loss, and thanks for the heads up. I definitely will.

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks so much!

Glad to be of some help.

After years of shooting carbon shafts, I've settled on the Gold Tip brand (prices vary by the amount of straightness you desire). They have been the most durable shafts I've ever tried. You spend a little more up front, but they last a long time. I also use the inexpensive Arizona fletching tools with great success.

May your aim be true and your arrows fly straight,

One thing about arrows is that you usually get what you pay for. More expensive shafts will be closer in grain weight to the rest in a dozen, and have tighter spine and straightness tolerances, all adding up to better accuracy. Many people tell me nobody would ever notice the difference, but i tell them they are wrong. I shoot CarbonForce Pro 200's outdoor and for hunting and Gold Tip X-Cutter Pros indoor. As it stands now, i will not shoot an arrow that isnt rated at .001 straightness or better. With these arrows and my Hoyt Vantage, i can consistently do roughly 6-7 inch groups at 90 meters.

Go to bigjimsbowcompany.com and see what he has. He often has "blemished" ( just the exterior finish is blemished and you have to seriously inspect it to find it, so basically normal) gold tip shafts for half the price. Got a dozen shafts for $44. Check it out!
