Hello, I'm back! This is my first post in about a month, mostly since its also about the second time in a month that I've had an hour of free time. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where to buy a half decent straight razor that isn't made for show. I'm considering actually using it. I've just recently gotten to the point that i need to shave every day, and I thought as a knife knut I should have a razor I can sharpen. Any suggestions?

! Howard Korn also has some nice boar brushes. I recently acquired one to replace a well worn one that Aramis marketed a l-o-n-g time ago. He has strops too!

Yes, Knifecenter has some nice straight razors for under $50.
My paternal grandfather shaved with a straight razor.
He said it treated his skin more kindly, and I have heard this elsewhere.
I don't know if the skin kindness comes from some inherent quality of the straight razor or from the extra care the user takes to avoid cutting himself.
If you get one and use it, please give us a report on your experience.

Thanks guys, I guess I should have mentioned that I already looked at the Knifecenter. I think I'll probably get it from there. After I do, I promise to let you know how much blood there was after I use it.

You can find lots of razors for sale on Ebay.
It's a great place to get some cheap before spending too much on a brand new one. I have bought several in excellent to like new condition made by well known manufacturers for less than $20 each. What I have yet to find is the courage to actually try shaving with them. Would probably cut my throat.
