I do a bit of leather work, but use mainly size 207 nylon thread which I get from the thread exchange. Tried something I thought was good, but once off the roll. Color shade thinned out and looked more like a slightly off white.

Need something that stands out from a black background

Thanks

Go to etsy.com and search fro "ritza 25 thread". There are a lot of sellers in different countries and you should be able to find color and thickness you like. They will sell either a few yards or the whole spool. This is top quality thread also known as Tiger Thread made by Julius Koch and considered the best on the market by many leather workers.

^^ that is also available on Amazon

Found a seller on Ebay. .6mm which is close to Tex210 at .5mm.

I do have a spool of white polyester thread size 277 which just felt a lot stiffer than the nylon I'm currently using, but the tan looks OK and for $7.00 with free s/h. Not a big loss if I don't like it.

Thanks for the help guys

Don, if you do hand stitching then 0.8mm or 1mm Tiger thread could be a better choice for sheaths. People say that 0.6mm is good for more delicate work like stitching around inlays or making watch bands, but I have no personal experience with it.

One little thing to remember when choosing colors. The thread regardless of color (except white or black) will always appear darker on the spool than when it is sewn into a project. If possible pull a single strand of the thread out and lay it up on the proposed project. That will give you a much better idea of the true color of the thread and how it will look by contrast when sewn into the leather.

Hi Lel,

Thread is for straps, so had to be a set thickness to avoid looking to thick.

Paul. Found that out on a sand colored thread. Looked great on the roll, but color faded once off it as you can see from this image.

This is the tan I ordered. Colonial Tan. Hopefully it will work. Want to use it on some black or brown colored straps

Very nice Don! I'm a mechanical watch enthusiast with a small wrist hence I always have a hard time finding good straps that fit right (mostly like 65-70/110 size). Been coming along with my leather work so one of these days, I'm going try my hand at some straps. I have some small alligator hides that would make beautiful straps if done right. Do you know of any good strap making tutorials you could point me to?

I know you from Timezone. Some people post tutorials on many forums. I taught myself from having to repair straps I got from my old supplier

Used to have a large number of short models, but they sold quick when I stopped ordering them

Can't recall anyone posting something recently and too many forums to keep track of now.

Might find something on WUS forum as they have a strap forum there. I'm sure there should be a number posted, so try there
